Edited sleeve notes from the LP version (now out of print) by Engineer Fritz de With.

'For many musicians of the old generation, the experience of music started in live shows and then, eventually, move to getting the songs recorded in a studio was the next big step... the first task as a musician and arranger was to simply to use the technology to capture the magic of a live performance into that little strip of tape... it would not take long to realise all those buttons and dials had the power that could be harnessed in a studio.

From the fifties to the sixties, it was the golden age of sound, something we have to remember and I mean sound coming from the studios and sound created by inventors like Saul Marantz for home use... a complete new audio industry was started. Well, I can tell you, you will be amazed pure by the incredible sound of those old recordings. Strangely enough there is an overall 3% distortion in every analogue recording like tube amplifiers (well we never mind)... if you compare the old analogue recordings to the new 24 bit recordings, it seems to sound too clinical to our ears and it has all to do with the the lacking of distortion. At last the recordings on this [disc] takes you back to the days when the modern era of recording began. Just listen.'
